In 2008, West View Primary school embarked on a research programme through MOE’s ‘Teach Less, Learn More’ initiative. A programme catering to the learning needs of the pupils by teaching Mathematics in an engaging manner using Multiple Intelligences (MI) strategies was thus birthed.
The use of MI helps teachers to tap on different pupils’ intelligences. The intention is to use more ways rather than one traditional method to reach out to pupils in their intelligences. The results of the research affirms what we believe - that teaching, when done in a manner that engages the learner by tapping on the learner’s strengths, will serve to increase the learner’s motivation to learn and helps the learner to achieve better results in the subject.

The programme is carried out pervasively through all levels except the P6 level as they will be focusing on the PSLE. Certain challenging topics were identified in the different levels and lesson plans incorporating MI strategies were crafted. Some examples of the various topics that were focused on are:
