Little Stars Reading Programme (LSP)
The Learning Support Programme (LSP), also known as Little Stars Reading Programme, is an early intervention programme for our P1 and P2 pupils. Through the programme, pupils who enter Primary 1 with weak literacy skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) are given additional support. The learning support teacher uses the enhanced LSP teaching package provided by the Ministry of Education. The enhanced LSP focusses specifically on the basic literary skills needed to help pupils learn to read and spell. By getting the basics of reading and spelling in place, the enhanced LSP also helps pupils learn in all their subjects. Pupils are identified for LSP through a systematic screening process carried out at the beginning of Primary 1.  Pupils identified for the programme are supported daily for half an hour in groups of 8 to 10 pupils.  Support continues in Primary 2 for pupils who need it.
