Objectives:

At West View, we strongly believe that reading is the key to learning. Bearing in mind that “learning to reading enables reading to learn”, the English Department has developed a rigorous reading programme, “Cool2Read”. The programme comprises various reading activities such as DEAR, I-Read, Readathon, graded readers and Incredi-Readers, which aims to level up all our pupils’ reading proficiency.

West View has created a conducive environment for pupils to develop desirable reading habits at the early stages of their learning years. One of the platforms to cultivate pupils’ interest and love of reading is through the Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) programme. DEAR is carried out in and out of the classrooms. During these sessions, both pupils and teachers engage themselves in reading.
