The YMCA of Singapore’s 5th Annual Mandarin Speaking Awards (MSA) commenced from 24 March 2011 with 109 students from 79 local schools pitting their oratorical skills against each other. The annual YMCA MSA is a national level public speaking competition supported by the Ministry of Education, the Confucius Institute and the Promote Mandarin Council.
Our school representative Tan Xin Yi from P3 Energetic went through the preliminary rounds and the finals was held on 18 April at the Woodlands Regional Library. As this was the first time for Xin Yi, she has to work hard on her speech content, language, delivery manner and expression. With sheer hard work and determination, Xin Yi has won the hearts of the judges to beat the rest of finalists to emerge First for the lower primary category.
The road to success had not been easy. We would like to thank our school leaders Mdm Rashidah and Mrs Mabel Lee, our teachers-in-charge, parents and supporters for their support. Once again, we applaud and congratulate Xin Yi for doing the school proud.
