WVPS are West Zone Champions for both the U13 and U11 Rugby Competition!

The U13 boys also finished 2nd in the Nationals!!

It has been a fantastic year so far for West View Primary Rugby. This year, we hosted the West Zone Rugby Competition for both the U11 and U13 level.

The U13s squad participated in the Zonals competition and won all their matches to finish as West Zone Champion. We beat Yew Tee Primary 70-0, Zhenghua Primary 21-7, De La Salle Primary 63-0 and Qifa Primary 14-7 in the deciding game. As a result, we qualified as one of the top seeded teams for the Nationals Competition. During the round robin stage of the Nationals, the team managed to win all their games to qualify for the quarter-finals. We beat Chong Zheng Primary 28-14, Admiralty Primary 56-0 and SJI 28-7 along the way. In the quarter-finals, we played against Zhenghua Primary and won with a score of 21-0 to advance to the semi-finals.

Gongshang Primary stood in our way during the semi-finals. We fell behind by a try in the first half. But this West View team was made of stern stuff. The boys  showed tremendous fighting spirit and great resilience to score three tries in the second half to win by 21-7!

It's a tussle between West View Primary and Anglo Chinese Primary for the U13 National Rugby crown. One of our star players Adam Vine broke free to break the deadlock. Our opponents fought back after that and exerted a lot of pressure on us. Their efforts paid off and they managed to score two tries to lead by 14-7. With the clock ticking down, our boys piled on the pressure and managed to score a try through Shukai. All we needed to do was to convert the try to force the game into extra time. However, we missed the conversion and lost the game in the most dramatic of fashion. This was our best showing in the Nationals Rugby Competition.

Not to be outdone by the seniors, our U11 junior boys also emerged as West Zone Champion. We won all our games and did not concede any tries throughout. The scores were as follows:

WVPS  26  0 De La Salle
 WVPS  28  0 Qifa
 WVPS  42  0 Zhenghua
 WVPS   35  0 Concord
WVPS   42 Bukit View

The U11 Nationals Competition will resume after the June holidays. The boys will continue to train hard to ensure that they bring back the National title that have eluded their seniors. The West View Rugby Family would like to thank everyone for the great support shown so far.
