Our school rules are put in place to provide you with an environment which allows for meaningful learning to take place. The rules, therefore, serve as a guide for the desired code of behaviour for you in our school. You must understand that YOU are accountable for YOUR actions or, in some instances, lack of action.
The code of behaviour is summarized under the 5 school rules.

Rule #1
|
Be Punctual and Prepared for all lessons, CCA and school activities. |

| |
| |
- The assembly starts at 7.20 am (AM Session) and 12.25 pm (PM Session). Pupils who are not in the assembly area by 7.21 am and 12.20 pm respectively are deemed late for school.
- Be punctual for any CCA and other school activities. Inform the teacher in-charge of absence prior to the commencement of the activity.
- Strictly no physical activities are to be carried out between 12.00 pm to 2 pm outdoors to prevent heat related disorders.

- Daily attendance at school for lessons, CCA and school activities during term time is compulsory.
- For absence due to medical reasons, a medical certificate must be submitted to the Form Teacher on the next school day.
- For absence due to other valid reasons eg. funeral, religious festivals etc, a letter from the parent/ guardian must be submitted on the next school day.
- Permission must be sought from the Principal or Vice-Principal to leave early in the event of illness or unexpected circumstances. Parents/Guardians must be in school to fetch the pupils before they can leave.
- Permission of the teacher-in-charge must be sought before any absence from non-curricular school activities.
- For school organized activities eg. excursions, field trips, only pupils with valid and completed consent forms will be allowed to go.

Rule #2
|
Be Neat and Tidy in appearance and work. |

- Wear the school uniform in school, during school functions or holiday activities and when representing the school in any outside events in the manner prescribed by the school.
- Modification to the uniform is not allowed.

| |

Shirts are to be buttoned up, leaving the collar unbuttoned. Only school prefects will tuck in their shirt and wear a tie.

Boys may wear a plain white singlet underneath their school shirt but not a T-shirt.

The hem of the uniform or skirt must be knee length.

2.2 Shoes and Socks
- Wear the type of white canvas shoes prescribed by the school. Track/Sports shoes may be worn for Sports CCAs or during Sports Day but pupils must change to canvas shoes after the CCA.
- Casual footwear is not allowed, except for medical reason.

| |
- Wear only prescribed PE attire during PE lessons. The t-shirts must be properly tucked-in after the lessons.
- Other school t-shirts eg. camp t-shirts are allowed only during CCA & other specified school functions. They must be properly tucked in.
- PE attire or other school t-shirts must be worn when engaging in physical activities before school (PM pupils) or after school (AM pupils).

- It must be kept simple, short and neatly combed. Pupils with unacceptable hairstyles will have to revert to acceptable hairstyles the within two school days.
- Boys will be required to get a haircut when
i. the fringe reaches the eyebrows, ii. the hair touches the collar at the back, iii. the hair touches the ears at the sides and/or iv. the sideburns reaches mid-ear.
- It must be kept to its natural colour. Dyed or coloured hair will have to be reverted to its natural colour by the following school day.
- Face is to be properly shaved and facial hair is not to be kept.

- If it reaches shoulder length or longer, it must be neatly pleated or tied up. The fringe over the forehead must not reach the eyebrows. Hairclips and other accessories must be used to keep the hair neat and tidy. These accessories must be black.

- Fingernails are to be kept clean, short and tidy. No nail polish is allowed.
Chains and rings must not be worn.
- Ear/nose/tongue studs and other piercings in the body must not be worn to school. Girls are allowed only one pair of simple ear studs or ear-sticks that must be gold, silver or black.
- If needed, wear a simple pair of spectacles. Coloured contacts lenses, tinted / fanciful / gaudy spectacle frames are not permitted.

Rule #3
|
Be Courteous & Respectful towards people, properties and the environment. |

| |
- All Singapore citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge.
- Take the Pledge with the right fist placed over the heart.
- Stand at attention and face the flags when the National Anthem is being sung and the Pledge is being recited.
- Observe the ceremony with solemnity and respect.
- For pupils of other nationalities, stand at attention throughout the ceremony.

- Show respect and obey school authority e.g., principal, vice principals, teachers, prefects, monitors, and non-teaching staff.
- Be courteous and greet the Principal, Vice-Principal, teachers, non-teaching staff, fellow West Viewians and visitors to the school.

| |
- Look after their personal possessions in school.
- Handle all school furniture, equipment and property with care. Vandalism will be dealt with severely.

- Practice the 3 R’s conscientiously to reduce wastage and conserve resources.
- Always use the dustbins in the school compound or waste paper baskets in the classroom to dispose of waste material properly. Pick up pieces of paper found lying on the school ground.
- Keep the toilets clean. Flush after use and dispose of used tissue paper properly. Keep the toilet dry.
- Maintain the greenery in the school compound. Do not damage the plants by plucking the leaves or flowers or uproot them.

Rule #4
|
Be Responsible, Show Care and consideration to one and all. |

- Be attentive at all times.
- Pack bags according to time table given.
- Take pride in work and submit the best effort in good time.
- Keep the classroom clean and tidy.
- Obtain the teacher’s permission before entering and leaving any classroom. The ‘Permission To Leave The Classroom’ pass must be worn prominently when outside the classroom.
- Cooperate with the teachers, prefects and monitors to maintain discipline and maximize learning in class.
- Food or drinks should not be consumed in the classroom.
- Leave the classroom for recess with the belongings you need. Do not return to the classroom unless supervised by a teacher.

- Remain seated and prepare for the next lesson while waiting for the next teacher to come in. Do not walk around, shout or play.
- Refrain from going to the toilet. Wait for the next teacher and ask for permission.

- Be seated if you arrive early. No running and playing in the hall from 12 noon onwards.
- Ask a teacher for permission before leaving the hall for any reasons.
- Read a story book quietly during silent reading. Refrain from talking to others. Do not do homework or revise for spellings or tests during this time.

| |
| |
- Go to the canteen for food only during the allocated recess period.
- Queue up for food and drinks.
- Consume all food and drinks in the canteen. Do not bring sweetened drinks to the classroom.
- Keep the canteen clean and dry. Avoid spilling food or leaving food scraps behind on the tables.
- Return used utensils to the correct collection bins provided.

- Line up quietly in two’s outside the classroom.
- Wait for the teacher’s instructions before proceeding.
- Move from point to point in a quiet and orderly manner. Walk together as a class.
- Listen to and obey the class monitors who are to be positioned at the front and the back of the class.

|
Be Disciplined by obeying all rules and instructions. |

- Carry handphones to school at own risk. Handphones must be switched off and must not be used at any time within the school compound. Any pupil found using the handphone will have to hand it over to the Operations Manager (OM) for collection by their parents.
- The following electronic devices are not to be brought to school - mp3 players, discmans, play stations etc.
- Any of these devices found in school will be handed over to the OM for collection by parents of the pupils involved.

- Toys and playing cards are not to be brought to school.
- Basketballs and soccer balls may be brought to school but must be kept in their nets or in proper bags when not in use. PM pupils must stop their games by 12.00 pm and AM pupils can only play after 2.00 pm. This is to ensure that PM pupils have sufficient time to prepare for lessons and AM pupils have sufficient rest after their meals. Pupils must ensure that they are properly attired for these activities (ie. in PE attire or other school t-shirts).

- Avoid gathering at unauthorized places or be a nuisance at public places.
Be a good ambassador of the school while wearing the school uniform outside the school.
- Obey the Pedestrian Crossing Rules and the Laws of Singapore.
