Dear parents,
Greetings to all the parents of Pr 1 and new pupils, thank you for choosing West View Primary as the school of choice for your child’s education.
In late November 2007, the staff and I went through an envisioning exercise. We reviewed the vision, mission and values that had chartered the course for our school for the past 8 years. Through the numerous discussions generated, we concluded that a new vision was necessary in order for the school to produce pupils who would be relevant for the globalised economy. This new vision will chart the direction for the school for the next 6 years.
Our school vision: A vibrant school where enthusiastic educators engage independent learners. The vision portrays an environment that is colourful and full of vitality, and where every pupil’s success is celebrated. It would be a school that every child in the neighbourhood would want to be a part of. Pupils will be closely guided and monitored even as they take charge of their own learning. Experiential learning such as overseas trips will expose them to the real world and enable them to gain insights into solving problems and making the right choices. Teachers are passionate in developing pupils holistically. They are not merely disseminators of knowledge, but also facilitators of learning.
Our school mission: With positive attitude, knowledge and skills, we will guide every pupil to achieve their personal best. As staff of the school, we are committed to unlearn and relearn so that we remain relevant to our profession. We will strive to help our pupils identify their strengths and guide them to harness these strengths to their advantage.
Our school values: The 4 values, or CIRA, for short are: C for Care I for Integrity R for Resilience A for Aspiration The embodiment of the 4 values will enable our pupils to thrive in a competitive school environment, while at the same time display care and fellowship for their schoolmates. As partners in your child’s education, the school advocates a close working relationship with all parents. We must strive to develop an environment that nurtures common values, seeks to understand and supports the child as he/she gains new experiences. If a child stumbles during the journey, the school and parents must work together to help the child regain his/her confidence. It is also my fervent hope that all parents support the school’s new vision and mission, and reinforce the school’s values whenever the opportunity arises. My staff and I sincerely look forward to a greater partnership with you and providing your child with an enriching school experience that will prepare him well for his/her secondary school life and beyond. We hope that the good memories we provide your child will stay with them for life!
